Everyone comment with between 5 and 10 movies that you consider Must See Movies(tm)

Then we'll make us a new movie meme.
I'll get things rolling here with my pile.

I vote for Terminator 2 and not the original Terminator.
Otherwise, I second Princess Mononoke, and add the following suggestions:

A Clockwork Orange
Die Hard
Ghost Dog
Chicken Run
Charade
The Philadelphia Story
Hackers
Wayne's World
As Good As It Gets
Ghostbusters

and I really liked Seven, as much as it squicked me the hell out.

Note that these are my personal must-see movies, and by no means exhaustive. I just don't have the time right now to really ransack my brain.

hackers is up there.

Die hard? enh. tough call. I think one 80's action movie is enough.

as good as it gets? no. I'm putting my foot down on that one. not Must See(tm)

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Metropolis (new, remastered/put-back-together version)

and for my brain's sake, it's 'Apocalypse Now', not 'Apocolpse Now'. Unless they remastered the title, too.

Hmm... some decent ones on your list...

My votes to veto:
Wayne World - That was lame... very very lame.
Brazil - Unless its the UK version then it shouldn't be seen.
Metropolis - Was a wanna be anime.. something just wasn't right.

My votes to be added:
Anime:
Neon Genesis Evangelion (entire series and movies)-Great fork with the mind series.
Lain - I am a part of the "wired" ... tech and psych fun.
Vampire Hunter D - One of the first to start the mainstream anime craze in the US.

Fun:
Robin Williams on Broadway - This is the HBO special of him doing stand up.
Office Space - 90% of us work in a place like that.
An evening with Kevin Smith - He rocks.
Clerks (Movie and Cartoon series) - Personal favorites.

Non Anime:
Requiem for a Dream - Great movie... script and directing are awesome.
Run Lola Run - Germans and thier movies about action and reaction.
The Cell - visuals only.. better watched listening to some trance.
Cube - A flick I heard of from a friend.. got it and was suprised. (I like the Blue Room... for those who have seen it.)
American Psycho - I love mental break down.
4 Rooms - Personal pick.. not seen by many.
Pulp Fiction - Another Terento flick.. very good.
Tron - Our roots as geeks.
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels - Script and Directing .. great.
Snatch - Same director as above .. great stuff.

Bad and probably vetoed quick:
Killer Clowns from Outer Space - Get to know what a bad movie really is.
Joes Apartment - Talking cock roaches are funny.
UHF - Wierd Al takes a shot at a flim.

Welp theres the list.

Maybe you shoudl alphabetize the list... its getting confusing and so I'm not totally sure whether I'm repeating something already suggested.

Casablanca (duh, makes me cry every time)
The African Queen
La Reine Margot (Queen Margot, the most gorgeous french film EVER)
The Last Unicorn (I know Ria will be second me on that)
The Doors

And now for my willfully Irish movies, which everyone see because they are REALLY good, not just because they're Irish...

In the Name of the Father
My Left Foot
Rat (because its just too funny. Also won the Golden Bear for 2001)
The Secret of Roan Inish

new movie list! here's what we're gonna do. Everyone comment with… - another LJ. or: how i learned to stop worrying and love this life-thingy
