'ey. *poke*

actually, I hate the potter-crazy country, too, but I like the books too much to renounce it all. Although with this latest ending, I just wanted to light the book on fire. ;p

I am ashamed. I caved and bought the book. Not cause I am falling for the hype but because I wanna talk about the book with my friends. Yeah, that's it! *looks embarassed*

They are indeed excellent books. But feeling like I'm buying into commercialist hype in any way makes me feel just schmucky.

embrace the madness

you must embrace the madness. there's a reason we are all insane, because they are good fun books. Are they the greatest books ever written, no, but no ones gonna agree on that anyway. I refused to read the books, believeing that they couldn't be worth the hype. Then Sarah's mom gave me the first one and it was all over for me. I've been sucked in. Yeah it's crazy now, but it's beautiful because it's a country excited about a book! and not a trashy celebrity tell all either! Fiction! reading for reading's sake! harry potter didn't start out being flogged by a big publisher, it got popular because kids, and booksellers and librarians etc. told their friends how great it was and the damn thing snowballed till we got to this point. I could do with out some of the tacky merchandising (except the action figures, because who doesn't loooove action figures!) but it makes my little soon to be a librarian heart smile. you totally have to read them.

i have read them dear, but people are way waaaaaaaaay too hyped up over the new one.
It's a book, it's not going anywhere. it'll be in stores for quite some time.
*shrug*

I like the potter books a whole heck of a lot, but the hype over them is just plain scary.
