one of my favorite acronyms is PEBKAC - Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair.
Today, I ran across FOBIO - Frequently Outwitted By Inanimate Objects.
I like FOBIO better, but it's harder to pronounce.

Fobio is fabio! :D
Youre not one of those Tech Support guys that people want to hit are you?
You're not one of those users that tech support guys want to hit are you? ;-)
So is that Foe-bee-o?
Doesn't seem especially hard to pronounce.....
but I LIKE saying PEBKAC!

Is the consensus that it it pronounced FOE-bio and not FOB-bio?
I say FOE-bi-oh.
FAH-bi-oh just isn't acceptable. consider other hairy men with that pronunciation...

I like using "It was an ID 10 T error" takes people a while to get it sometimes... hmm

when I worked in tech support, there were quite a few trouble tickets that I'd fill out with just those six simple letters.
PEBKAC, how I love thee.
...but FOBIO is damned cool too. :-)
PEBKAC is far more useful in a tech support context, but FOBIO is just plain useful. I could apply it to any number of poeple I encounter on a daily basis. ^_^
when we encounter someone who is obviously the culprit in a headache-causing tech-support issue, the common line i spout is "oh, we see this now and again. it's a TSO error. you should just exchange this piece for something else less likely to exhibit a TSO fault, like a tape-based multitrack recorder rather than a computer-based Digital Audio Workstation. let me show you what i have".
TSO = Technology Superior to Operator :)
i've used the line "it appears to be a fault in the ID10T module, let's try a different model" now and again as well :)
gotta love it.
I'd like to introduce you to the emotion... *headdesk*
Ooh, I like that one. I'm glad I'm not in tech support anymore though.
I once did tell someone that sunspots were causing their problems. They just wouldn't accept that floppy disks made after 2000 or so only last for about a month. They did accept sunspot activity had affected their floppy. Go figure.
ooo, sunspots is always a good scapegoat for lusers. it's kind of sad.
