well that fuckin sucks.
Yesterday I remembered on the subway home that I left my ipod in the corner of my cube. Still being vaguely sick, and already on the subway, I obviously didn't go back for it. (heck, it's a super secure office with lots of swipey-card things.)
Today it's not there.
(ok, so it's not like I liked it as an MP3 player anyway, and I did get it almost free, but it still sucks that someone yoinked it.
fuck this place, I'm so out of here.)
mood: pissed off
That is soooo not cool. I'd pitch a fit if i were you. If its that secure it must be an inside job. And if its an inside job that means the payroll sheet is also the suspect sheet.

that's my guess.
I'm torn between defeatism and raising holy hell.
I'm just not sure if I have the energy for the latter.
Raise Holy Hell! Make a stink--you've given them your hard-earned time while they've shat on you; don't let them get away with it!
if by "they" you mean the people working slave wages for the cleaning company contracted by the building who rents to the company I'm working at who I'm subcontracting for by way of another company entirely... yes. They shat on me.
Unfortunately I'm way too many degrees removed to raise much of a stink. What little stink I can raise would be disproportionately small in comparison to the energy I'd have to put into it.
I'm untrusting in this situation--it may very well have NOT been the cleaning folk and instead was a co-worker who knows your leaving and decided to help him or herself.
no one knew yesterday except my direct boss, and he's definitely not a suspect. trust me on that one.
That really sucks, Ry. Completely.
If nothing else I'd report the "loss" to security - if only to let somebody know that something fiendish is going on. Think of the good people that you're leaving behind that could benefit from additional vigilance.
a stupid question, i'm sure, but have you tried looking at anywhere in your cube a benevolent coworker would have 'hidden' it once they realized you left it, to deter theives?

dang, that really sucks. I had a pair of relatively wimpy/cheap headphones stolen out of my cube at a swipey-card "secure" place of employment, once. I left the phones in the cube intentionally because I figured they were too cheap to bother stealing, but I guess they weren't too cheap for a member of the cleaning crew to lift (I left the office quite late the night they disappeared). I sort of figured that if the person was that desperate, they might as well just keep the damn things. But an iPod (especially a new-to-you-as-a-toy one) is a different story. I read that people are using dark-colored earbuds with their iPods now to avoid being mugged while wearing/using...
