Reports of my untimely demise have been greatly overstated.
I was in Portland OR on business for a few days, got back to a sick prosicated and a visiting oceanic, and have had little in the way of spare time for the past week or so. Also x-mas stuff really snuck up on me this year, and I've been scrambling to catch up. In August I had things under control, and hence completely failed to do anything towards getting purchases made, etc.
scramble scramble.

Not much other news. Band is on hiatus until around Jan 8th, as we're all sorts of out of town over the holidays.

I've noticed that when people start playing music they stop posting on LJ. Appears to be happening to me as well. Band picks up, I start playing bass at home instead of noodling on the intarwebs. Add to that the fact that I'm still trying to learn how to play banjo, and it all adds up to very little intarweb time at home.

ANYWAY.
onwards.

Morepie.
We haven't giged out yet, but hope to soon.

It's kind of generic rock meets jam-band, but we do some blues covers too. Influences are all over the place. Heavy Phish influence (guitarist has writing credits on at least 4 Phish songs and other guitarist is a major Phishhead), also classic rock and 90's grunge (think Led Zep & Pearl Jam). We do a countryish song or two, and a few blues covers (crossroads, key to the highway), but mostly our own stuff.

Honestly it's not the sound that I'd steer a band towards personally, but I'm really enjoying getting to play music again. Our drummer is applying to grad school, and if he gets in it looks like the band might disintegrate, so I'm kind of in a wait-and-see mode right now.
I hope to have a few MP3's online come february.

// sounds good. definitely post mp3s as soon as you can.

// a little more esoteric, but check out the stuff we
// recorded a bit ago: http://www.bearisdriving.net

// maybe a little too esoteric for some, but imo it's
// pretty good.
