Ya know, I kind of hate getting a W2.
You look at that number on there indicating how much money you've been given in the past 12 (usually) months, and you look at your bank account balance, and you go "HOLY FUCK! Where the hell did all that money go???"
At least now I'm ready to do my taxes. Just got to wait for the prosicated's tax forms to roll in so that we can do them together some romantic evening. 'Cause nothing says romance like tax preparation, let me tell ya. ^_^
'Cause nothing says romance like tax preparation
it's the truth!
(actually, it's probably one of the few times Pie and I come close to almost arguing, but that's because my Sqrl-brain can't quite wrap itself around taxes...)
Funny person. I look at mine and say "Wow! That's why i'm broke all the time."
Romantic: Especially when you throw in the requisite bottle of wine.
Move to one of the most expensive cities in the country. You'll get paid more due to cost of living, and then you can have my reaction too!
and taxes while drunk? hmm...
I guess ours are pretty straightforward, standard deductions and all. Yours though must be a little more complex. You're deducting mortgage insterest, right?

*SNORK* yeah. Yeah, that's what's up. I want you to talk to the people who decide my salary. ;)
The partner does, as well as home improvement expenses from drywall purchase to roofers. I get medical expenses, charitable donations, student loan interest. Of course, this is also why we use tax prep software -- it makes it easy even when one is getting drunk. Try clubbing together with some other folks to buy TurboTax. Alternatively, there's supposed to be online tax software which is free to low to moderate income folks.
taxbrain.com was only free for under $25000 I think. Apparently there's a bunch that are free up to $50k.
I shall desert taxbrain.com this year methinks.
I have moral objections to TurboTax due to their behavior in installing spyware on your computer after you bought their software.
They shall have none of my monies.
I like taxbrain.com
Do it all online, and if you're under a certain threshhold you can file for free with them.
Wow, didn't see this comment till after posting mine below, but that sucks!
Yeah, I operate on a 'one strike you're out' rule when it comes to companies fucking with my personal info.
Yes - I have managed to do mine for free the past couple of years - just had to do state & federal seperately.
This is the main reason I'm moving to Texas. Same job, same pay, much lower cost of living. For what I pay in rent right now I can buy a place at least twice the size of what I live in now.
Damn right! Yeah, we need to get TurboTax again this year, because just the thought of the paper forms makes me kind of dizzy.
I wonder how many I'll get.
I shoudl get three...but since the computer store where I worked went out of business, I don't know that the (former) owner will bother to comply with all those laws and stuff.
That would reflect badly on me. Plus I really like getting an early refund, I can usually have mine in February. Actually if it weren't for the contract job and the other computer job, I'd already have my taxes DONE. Stupid rules.
