Well that was a fun trip. Now begins the painful trip home. It's 11:16 local time, I won't be home in Cambridge until about 5pm local time tomorrow. Ugh.
On a cell modem (from work, helpdesk has it's perks) in the terminal in Maui right now, waiting for boarding to start. Hopefully I'll be able to get some sleep on this flight or it's really going to suck tomorrow when I get on another plane and feel like hell. It's like a 5 hour flight, so that's what I'm hoping to sleep for. Then a little while awake in LAX and hop on another plane, stay awake till I get home, then crash early monday night with prosicated. yay!
Then get up and go back to work. less yay.
I've got a good pile of stuff that's waiting for me when I get back. I put a bunch of stuff off for "when i get back," and now that's all going to bite me in the ass. Ah well. It's mostly just calling Dell and sitting on hold with them for an hour, then putting in like 6 tickets which will each take a good 15 minutes for the poor "tech" to type into their apparently painful system. Good times.
There's a NASCAR family sitting to my left discussing the intricacies (sp?) of today's race. Whee.
Ok, looks like they're getting ready to start boarding, I should shutdown the laptop.
Off into the great blue beyond!

ah, I just responded to the first e-mail I had from you. hehe!
That is way sexier if your budget stretches that far.
Check out the dell outlet thing though, i've almost never been able to beat those deals anywhere else on the web, especially when you put a coupon on top of that.

Problem is, I want this before I go to Australia on Monday and I didn't have the money to spend until yesterday. *sticks his tongue out at the world*
Haven't heard from the sexy laptop yet, but there's this:
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 735 (1.70GHz/2MB Cache/400MHz FSB), Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition Qty: 1
Inspiron B130 Intel® Pentium® M Processor 735 (1.70GHz/2MB Cache/400MHz FSB)
LCD Panel 15.4in WXGA Display
Memory FREE!512MB DDR2 SDRAM 2 Dimm
Video Card Integrated Intel® Media Accelerator 900 Graphics
Hard Drive 40GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
For $650, though I might be able to talk him down to $600.
It's not great, but with a new HD and double the mem it would be pretty banging.
not bad at all for the price. ^_^

I'm thinking I should see if the guy would rid himself of it for $600 if I come out tomorrow and pick it up. He apparently used it for only a couple weeks before getting a new laptop from work. What should I look for, do you think? I mean, outside from dents + it not working.
Also, I need your address for a postcard from the Penal Colony!

Oh! He totally got it on Slickdeals. That means I can get the $50 rebate and therefore the overall price will be $700. Nice! I should bite, shouldn't I...

Oh! He works about a block away from my house. That way I know where to go when it stops working a day or so after I buy it to bop someone over the head with a lead pipe! Cool! New laptop for me in five hours!
hah, awesome. thanks for the running update. ^_^
I wouldn't, Celeron's are pretty underpowered imho. (also you're really going to want at least 512mb of ram, but you can add that later for pretty darn cheap.)
Try dell's outlet site instead. This link should work:http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh
When I checked just now they had a Pentium M in there for $550, which I'd take over the Celeron any day of the week.
Keep an eye on dell's outlet. They dump stuff into there periodically, and you can get really good deals in there.
Also you can buy dell coupons on e-bay, 10-20% off any purchase, for like $1-2, saving you even more dough. Just look for an ebay seller with good feedback. I did it once, had the coupon in my email before ebay even told me the auction had closed.
