It was a great game until then....
yeah, it was an awesome game to watch, although I only caught about a half-hour of it.
But having the final game end in a shootout?
It's not really anybody's fault that it ended in a shootout, it's just the way it went.
Not so, it's FIFA's fault.
I disagree with the concept of shootouts for final games of tournaments. It's a weak way to end it.
As an ex division-champion team captain (high-school), I'm a supporter of the "Play 'till you drop" concept, for final games at the very least.
I would hazard a guess that you don't like it when a cricket series is tied, also? :)
if I knew anything about cricket I might care.
Cricket is, simply put, the best game one can watch. It is also unique in that series can be drawn between two countries, because each game can easily be tied or drawn (a tie is where the amount of runs scored by each team is equal, and a draw is when the game has not finished after five days). I tend to feel that anybody from outside the commonwealth doesn't really 'get' the draw.

That was the weirdest fucking thing. Everyone in the bar was like "[pause...] [longer pause...] What the FUCK??"
I'd love to hear what Materazzi said to prompt that one.
Actually he gave him a purple nurple.
"115 mins Replays show that Materazzi's crime was to, erm, tweak Zidane's nipple. I kid you not. Tyldesley, the Zidane lover, is now launching into the darker spots of Materazzi's CV, but whatever he did or said, Zidane is slap bang out of order, kinky nipple tweak or no nipple tweak." See, in the pro wrestling world, they refer to that as an "oversell".
Man, soccer players are sissies.
