No I haven't died. I've been shooting photos, just haven't been posting. I hope to rectify that soon.
I've been making some sawdust. yay! Nothing pretty yet, just groundwork for actually getting stuff done soon. Made a temporary toolbox with a dehumidifier so my tools will stop getting rusty, that was very necessary.
In other news, I'm thinking of joining a gym for the first time. makes me nervous just thinking about it, but I've failed to bike to work for almost a whole month now between insomnia, rain, and freezing-ass-cold. I think getting up an hour earlier and hitting the gym for a bit before hopping the T would be a good plan.
Current Location: work
I'm a BSC member. It's OK. I used to go all the time but less so now for some reason. Once the Davis one opens up I hope I'll go more.
my best fitness period, aside from my teen years when i could and would willingly swim the 20 laps after smoking a cigarette and still have lung capacity, was when i worked at Temple and went to the on-campus fitness facility. i didn't do much gym-wise (no treadmill, elliptical, weights), but i took yoga and Pilates, both of which eventually kicked my ass. i miss that--it was convenient.
biking in the cold is tough enough around here. i can't imagine doing it through the year in colder areas. i know a girl, sorta, through knitting, that bikes year-round up in northern canada. wtf? makes me feel like a pussy-ass snowblower.
If I were in your position, I don't think I'd succed at hitting the gym that early very often, but that's me and not you.
I biked to work today in the falling snow. It was lovely. I intend to continue biking as often as I can through the winter. If you want any advice on cold-weather biking gear, I'm happy to share what I've figured out. Some of it came from Icebike
, a lot of it came from my former housemate electrictruffle
who is one of the most bike-focused people I know, and a few bits of it have been my own solutions to odd problems.
If you're worried about the cost of winter gear, you could compare it to the cost of gym membership. ;-)
But, now, it's time to bike home!
yeah, i kinda doubt I would either.
I ride a very skinny-tired road bike though, I won't be riding in if there's significant slush on the roads. Just working through the options in my head really.

c's seriously considering the work gym...
also, Bally's is closer to you and far less expensive.
is it? I'll have to investigate.
work gym's tempting, but kinda crappy. And I'd have to have a wet towel with me at work all day, haven't figured out a good way to deal with that yet.

yeah, it's been $32 a month for me and $16 for c. what you get when varies, but i know folks paying $19 a month and no one paying more than me.
hrm, the wet towel thing would kinda suck. i betcha he has not thought of that.
