For you EeePC lovers, here's an upcoming machine which I think is what the aieeeeeeeeee machine should have been. It's not my perfect pocket-computer yet, but it's far closer.
The Everex Cloudbook
Same size (roughly), same weight, same price, but...
30gb drive instead of 4gb
5hr battery instead of 3
DVI-out instead of VGA
Open Source OS instead of proprietary
Me likey the direction things are heading.
(And hey, imagine if the Apple AirHead were more like this, but designed well...)
oh, and new usericons courtesy of some summer photos by coraline.
I also tossed some old icons that I wasn't using or that I know were disliked for various reasons.

love the icon, but i might be a bit biased :)
huh, it does look more robust than the Eee. is it a flash drive though? i liked that dropping the Eee wouldn't necessarily be catastrophic. cause, you know, i need to think about these things.

never mind, googling answered my question.
yeah, it's not solid=state. A 32gb SSD alone would run you about $1800 retail.

Yeah, I use my Eee for bar writing, so constantly fear the drop/nudge/shock.
If I had actually received my XO, I'd use that. Those things are nigh on bullet proof.
just 'cause I couldn't exist in a 4gb drive I'm suddenly a meaniehead?
tongue icon! and default icon -- rockin' :)
at least for the moment, got tired of looking at icons that don't look like me.
I miss my red hair and all, but it's not looking like red hair's in the cards for me again soon. *le sigh*

Mm, that is pretty cool, and about 1/5th the cost of the MacBook Air. Not quite the same computing horsepower, but still decent for the apps it comes preloaded with. It'd make a good travel mate, for keeping connected and keeping a journal.
yeah, Via 1.2 instead of a Core 2 1.6, very different procs.
But for a little kickin' around machine for mobile wiredness? Far superior to an iPod touch. ;-)
Wouldn't mind ALSO having an EeePC though, just for comparison. ;-)
